James is originally from Fife, lived in Edinburgh for a bit … and is now back in Fife again. He is signed to Domino Records – but still records bits and pieces on Fence. The Athletes are a nice bunch of people who James met at different times in different Edinburgh pubs…they are a versatile lot, and do whatever is required to get the job done.

James has released five albums on Domino – Moving Up Country, Just Beyond The River, Year Of The Leopard, Roaring The Gospel and When The Haar Rolls In. His sixth album, Folk Songs, will be released in August 2009 – and is a collaboration with the Big Eyes Family Players.
