Over Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th April 2012, we will be putting on a brand new Fence event in St Andrews, Fife.  It’s called the Eye O’ The Dug.

This event will bring together all your Fence favourites with a host of incredibly special guests, in various venues.  The music will start early evening on Saturday 14th, and go on until late … then there’ll be an all-day bash on the Sunday, from 1pm until 11pm.   Amazing music, beautiful location – and all at a great price too!

As with all Fence events, we’re not going to give away the line-up just yet.  However, rest assured we’re gonna make this as special as every other Fence bash … in fact, maybe just a wee bit more special.  You’ll just have to wait’n'see what we’ve got hidden up our sleeves!

This event is for over 16′s only.  A special offer for St Andrews students only will be made available in February.

We’re going back to The Caves – with Withered Hand’s first full band show of 2012!  It’s a double headliner, with Pictish Trail on just before – and Second Hand Marching Band opening the night.  We’ll have Fence DJ’s spinning until 1am, an’ aw!

We’re throwing a party to mark the launch of our new E.P. series, Chart Ruse. The first E.P. in the series is by our very own trash-folk balladeer, Withered Hand – aka singer-songwriter Dan Willson. Dan will be performing a very intimate solo set for this show – accompanied by a few special guests. It promises to be the stuff o’ Fence legend!

Support comes from our latest signing, Seamus Fogarty – who’ll be performing some tunes from his forthcoming debut album, God Damn You Mountain (due for release April 2012).

There will be secret Fence DJ‘s, and a few other surprises too. Doors open at 8pm, and the place is open til 2am! Should be a cracking night – and the perfect afterparty to the King Creosote & Jon Hopkins show at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire the night before!

It’s the end of the year, and all of us here at Fence HQ need to let our hair down.  (Even Gummi Bako, whose hair let him down some years ago).

Soooo, we’ve decided to have a staff night out on the tiles in Glasgow.  That’s right – it’s a Fence Records’ Xmas Party … BUT YOU ARE ALSO INVITED.

We’re gonna have some live music from Fence Records acts, and some DJ’s too.  The line-up is going to be a secret – but, trust us, if you’re a Fence fan you’ll be in for a treat.  Our initial batch of £5 and £6 tickets have sold out, but we have a new limited batch available at £7.50 – with no postage to pay!  Tickets will be £10 on the door, so be sure and buy your now if you want to save some dosh!

There’ll be some OTHER treats in store for those that attend the Xmas Party … but we’ll reveal all that later on.

The whole shebang is happening at Saramago Café Bar (the CCA, on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow) on Thursday 15th December.  The doors open at 8pm, and the live music will go on until about 11.30pm, with DJ’s until 1am.

There are no physical tickets – your name will be on a list at the door, with the number of tickets that you have bought.  This saves you postage! Bingo!

FENCE RECORDS PRESENTS: FOUND + Kid Canaveral + The Pictish Trail (DJ set) + more

On Monday, September 5th, we’re putting on a special Fence Records show in London.

Now that our favourite London venue, The Luminaire, has closed, we’re going to start using a place called The Wilmington Arms – which is located in Clerkenwell. just over the road from Exmouth Market. It’s a braw pub that serves good food, nice selection of beer, and has a great wee venue next door. Perfect.

So, aye – this show will feature co-headline performances from FOUND and Kid Canaveral.

FOUND hardly need any introduction – they’re brand of experimental electronic schizoid-pop has been a staple at Fence events since the release of their second album, This Mess We Keep Reshaping. 2011 has been a big year for Tommy, Ziggy & Kev – their current album, factorycraft, came out in spring on Glasgow’s legendary Chemikal Underground label … and the summer has seen the boys hone their live skills with a slew of live dates and festivals slots under their belts. As well as a few dodgy festival curries, no doubt.

Before FOUND take to the stage, Kid Canaveral will have got everyone sweating their cardigans off. Our Edinburgh-based indie-poppers are experts at this sort of thing. We’re about to release the vinyl repressing of their fantastic debut album SHOUTING At Wildlife - so make sure you pre-order this now, so that you can sing along come September.

I’ll be DJ’ing between/after acts as The Pictish Trail … and there’s another special guest still to be announced.

Doors are at 19.30, with live music finishing by 22.30, and the place open until 23.00. Tickets are £8.50 advance / £10 on the door. There’s no postage charge, as all tickets will be kept under your name on the door.

It’s not a massive venue – so we suggest purchasing tickets now to avoid tantrums!

The second annual HaarFest event will be taking place over August 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th, 2011 – in various venues around Anstruther & Cellardyke in the East Neuk of Fife.

HaarFest started last year and incorporated 4 evenings of music from various members of The Fence Collective, as well as some special guests. During the afternoons there was some non-musical activities to take part in – both indoor workshops, and outdoor walks. It’s all happening again this year, with afternoon events being organised around the Hew Scott Hall in Anstruther, and evening concerts in the Cellardyke Town Hall.

Season tickets – priced at £65 – are on sale RIGHT NOW.  Day tickets are also on sale right now from the Fence website, and from East Neuk Books on Rodger Street in Anstruther.  Season tickets permit entry to all four days of music, including a special dinner on the 14th.
