    Ballboy

Edinburgh’s finest, Peel favourite, and all-round indie legends – we are big fans of Ballboy.  The band have played at a number of Fence events in the past 3 years, and front man Gordon McIntrye has performed solo a few times too.

ballboy are an Edinburgh band comprised of Gordon McIntyre (vocals and guitars), Nick Reynolds (bass guitar), Gary Morgan (drums and percussion) and Alexa Morrison (keyboards, melodica and vocals). The band were joined by Pete Harvey on cello for the recording of their new album, ‘I worked on the ships’.

Over the last 7 years ballboy have released 4 albums and numerous singles. The band’s dry wit and imaginative story telling, combined with the use of strong bold images, and depth of emotion poured into each song, have gained them a devoted fan following … not least of whom was the late John Peel.  John invited the band to record sessions for his BBC Radio One show five times, including his Christmas 2003 episode – broadcast live from his home. Over the years 11 ballboy tracks featured in his legendary Festive Fifty.

We’ve got some copies of their latest album, ‘I Worked On The Ships’, in stock in the Fence Shop …
