Taking place THIS Friday, 9th July, from 4pm onwards …

Our pal Robin Turner, who works with the legendary Heavenly Recordings and writes for süper-blog Caught By The River, has asked Fence to take part in his new project.  ROAM is a touring micro-festival/arts centre, conducted in a humble mobile library (!) – making it’s way across the five host borough’s of London’s 2012 Olympic Games over the course of July.  It’s mission is to celebrate the finer things in life, championing the fruits of home-grown art/culture, and bringing a rural way of thinking to the bustling hub-bub of the city.   You can find out more at the ROAM website: www.roamlondon.org.

On Friday, 9th July, the mobile library will stop at Haggerston Park, in Hackney – where Fence Records will host an afternoon/early-evening acoustic picnic!

There will be acoustic performances from a bunch of different Fence Collectees, and some pals too.   The Pictish Trail, Adem, Hardsparrow, Player Piano, Love.Stop.Repeat. (solo), Stephen Cracknell (Memory Band), James Mathé (Barbarossa) … and a bunch of others are all going to be performing intimate acoustic sets.   There’ll also be talks on local geology from Ian Vince (“Britain Beneath Our Feet”), and a lecture on the downfalls of technology from Dan Kieran (The Idler).  So something a bit different from an evening in the pub … (although you can bring some beers with you!).

It all starts from 4pm, until about 8.30pm – why not leave work early, and say hello?
