HaarFest is back – over the 11/12/13/14th August, 2011, in various venues around Anstruther and Cellardyke, in the East Neuk of Fife. Here’s a message with more details from King Creosote!
Haar-lo.
We’re running Haarfest for the SECOND YEAR RUNNING! Other than the actual dates of the event August 11th – 14th, details are at present very scant. Meantime, let’s think fondly upon a few of the many highlights from last year’s inaugural yet equally unorganised event …
Those giant chairs eh?, the highly contentious washing line art display, lots of amazing music, the power cut, the diver dragging a tuba up a deathslide in Crawhill Woods, the rock concert, the whisky confessional, red phoneboxes, googly eyes, Icarts, the birth of Fanage, FitBaw Sack, the burning of those giant chairs & the floating away of the Bat Pants …
This year we’ll run evening shows from 8pm – 1am thursday – saturday, with a sunday dinner dance/disco for all those *daft* enough to buy a season ticket. That’s the plan anyway. Booked acts include Dan Lyth, Cynthia Gentle & the TrueTones, King Creosote, but there’ll be plenty others. Johnny Pictish is related to Ken and Dave Bluebell, as well as Fuctifano, so fingers crossed they’ll all attend.
HMS Ginafore, Gummi Bako and Doolz are programming the day events. Here are a few of their ideas:- a fossil hunt, a tour of “hidden spaces”, canoeing and/or rowing, rockpooling talks, a pub sports league, jelly wrestling with the tearoom girls …
Eager beavers might be interested to note that the Pittenweem Arts Festival runs from friday August 5th, and that Khartoum Heroes are booked to play wednesday August 10th.
A season ticket looks likely to set you back £65 – we’ve still to cost out the dinner part of the dinner dance – and evening tickets £15 for each adult. Concessions perhaps. Haarfringe events individually ticketed, sometimes by donation. Season tickets ARE ON SALE NOW
Any or all of the above may be subject to erratic change.
