We’ve been banging on about it for moooonths, and now the day has finally arrived! Kid Canaveral‘s debut album, SHOUTING At Wildlife, has been officially re-pressed on Fence Records – on 12″ vinyl LP, packaged with a CD inside.
There was a fantastic review in yesterday’s Sunday Herald:
Kid Canaveral
Shouting At Wildlife
(Fence)
It’s been a long time coming but 2011 will surely be the year that wider world sits up and takes notice of Kid Canaveral. Having formed in St Andrews in 2004 and released a handful of singles and an album on their own Straight To Video label, they smartly signed to Fence Records earlier this year, gigged hard at home and abroad (including the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, US) and now re-release said album for nationwide consumption. Which is just as it should be, because Shouting At Wildlife is a Scottish pop classic – song after crazily catchy song, each overflowing with a brash danceable energy that’s all-out life-affirming. Guitarists David MacGregor and Kate Lazda alternate lead vocal duties: he hits glorious hights on the chorus of the current single, And Another Thing!!, while she draws an indie-pop line back to The Shop Assistants on Left And Right. On top of that, any album that gathers together past singles such as Smash Hits and Couldn’t Dance shoudl be mandatory in every record collection in the country. Alan Morrison
