Withered Hand Announces UK tour; biggest London show to date.
Withered Hand, aka Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter Dan Willson, is a much-loved member of the Fence Collective, and an erudite alt-folk bard whose fans include Jarvis Cocker, Malcolm Middleton and Frightened Rabbit.
Following packed-out gigs at this year’s SXSW bash in Texas, a stunning headline show at Edinburgh’s Queen’s Hall and a successful European tour, Withered Hand is set to tour the UK this October (dates below), and these shows will include his biggest London gig to date.
The tour will showcase Withered Hand’s acclaimed back catalogue (two lo-fi EPs and his 2009 debut album, Good News), along with brand new-material and some surprises. Willson will take to the road fresh from a recording session with indie-rock godhead Darren Hayman…
Withered Hand‘s striking debut album Good News was released in the UK in late 2009 to an eager cult following and without any coordinated publicity or promotional effort, it is still gathering critical acclaim from all corners via word of mouth. To wit, MOJO magazine’s four star review of the album appeared a full eight months (!) after the album’s release.
Airplay and support from the likes of Gideon Coe (6 Music), Marc Riley (6 Music), Tom Robinson (6 Music), Vic Galloway (Radio Scotland) and Rob Da Bank (Radio 1) led to live sessions being recorded for both BBC Radio Scotland and BBC 6Music.
