The New Makars Trust had plans to help revitalise the East Neuk songwriting tradition and thought to themselves “there’s no a better way to get this shebang stairted, than wi’ some guid old fashioned singalongs at the Waid” (which for all you incomers, is the local highschool). Hmm… Roll on Plan B. “Naw, in order tae gie these toon tunes a kick up the airse we need some o’ them happening, funky songsmiths that the kids wi’ aw dig, ken?” Soooo lo and behold local folky yokels and East Fife Mail starlets, the Fence Collective, got hoodwinked into giving something back to the community that they’d been a-plunderin’ for inspiration all these years. A Fence-fuelled songwriting workshop for kids was born and this cd is one of the fruits of that labour of love. Features King Creosote, The Pictish Trail, Gummi Bako, Gifford Lind, Andy Shanks and last, but not certainly not least, Anster’s finest, it’s The Humming Beans!
